Everyone is a work in progress. And we also have to understand that we’re not perfect. No, one’s perfect. We all have things that we’re working on and that’s why we decide to change our mindset through life coaching.
In this episode, Geneviève and Melissa, and I talk about the amazing advantages of signing up for anything self-help as well as the real obstacles we face when we decide to take a step towards our own personal development and growth.
“I am forever grateful to all of the very difficult life experiences that have taught me the tools that I now teach because I wouldn’t have been able to be such a good teacher of these tools.” – Geneviève
In this episode you will learn:
- Experiencing vulnerability through group coaching programs.
- The ways these group coaching programs have impacted the lives of both Geneviève and Melissa.
- What being the CEOs of their own lives has taught Geneviève and Melissa.
The value of group coaching programs
At first, it is considered a bit awkward to share your personal struggles with a group of complete strangers. But once we feel comfortable participating in a self-help group, we realize how valuable it is to be vulnerable and relate to other people as well. You might think you’re the only one going through certain situations but you are not alone. It is a constant feeling of support through difficult times along with celebrating everyone’s successes. The more we share our struggles, we also share them when we overcome them and we all celebrate together.
It is empowering to feel vulnerable and it’s great to see that everyone is progressing in completely different ways while at the same time gaining and building from one another.
And so working with a group, recognizing the normalcy and authenticity of everything that we are going through together, and being able to show up with a better mindset are all worth it for our personal progress.
Everyone is a work in progress
Working on any positive change in your life can add an extra layer of responsibility and accountability to what you want to achieve.
First, it all starts with awareness. We have to choose to be aware of what we’re doing and what’s going on. Being a part of a coaching program is the first step towards that awareness.
Second, we can choose to work on our limiting beliefs to know that we belong where we are. We can choose to change our mindset and the comfort that it needs to keep going through the progress. Choose to no longer be a victim of your thoughts but to generate them and I create them.
What is the value of that? It is priceless to live a life where you are in charge of your mind without putting up all these walls. It is valuable to be able to exist in a really positive, peaceful place without feeding negativity into it. It also builds confidence and the strength of resiliency to face any situation head-on. Also, recognizing that you’re a distinct individual and not associated with anybody else’s view of you.
Knowing that you are a work in progress is about being imperfect and embracing that. But in reality, how much of this personal development do you choose to commit to?
The commitment of time and money to coaching
The two biggest obstacles people have to joining any kind of self-help group, whether that’s therapy or nutrition, or life coaching are time and money.
Time can hold you back since you might think that there isn’t enough of it to participate in any activity, especially compared to what you believe is more important in life. We can be very busy with demanding jobs and people in our life. But take a moment to recognize that there’s a lot of time in our life where we’re spent doing nothing. So work on carving out the time by putting it into your calendar. Make the time for self-love and self-care just like you would do for anything else.
Money can hold you back from fully being immersed in the program due to fear of not having enough of it. However, you have to look at it as an investment but as yourself. It is all about action and changing your mindset and there is nothing more valuable than that, even time and money.
So invest in yourself just like Geneviève, Melissa, and I did. My doors will be opening soon for the September cohort of my Reset Your Mindset group. I’m also going to be offering a Detox The Mind, five date live coaching in September, September 12. So if this is for you, if you are a perfectionist, attached to achievements, overdoing, constantly fed up with your own mind, wanting to get a break from thinking so much from feeling disappointed from being so hard on yourself. I want to coach you through that.
